Gas City Speedway - 4/16/2004

Woohoo racin, as D.O. of Racin with D.O. would say. The season opener was a blast at Gas City. Everybody and their brother showed up to race sprints. Brandon Petty, Tyler Pearce, Mike Burthay, Terry Pletch, A.J. Anderson, and Tony Davis, to mention just a few of my good friends that had shown up to race on the rather rutty Gas City Speedway. I qualified an 13.393 navigating the ruts. during the heat race we started on the outside of the front row and managed to hold off Tony Elliot til lap 5. Tony slid underneath me on lap 6, placing me in third. I thought that I was going to the A-main, til Tony got a little out of shape causing me to slow up a bit to avoid hitting him. When this happened Mike Burthay and Terry Pletch passed me on the inside, leaving me with a fifth place finish in the heat race. During the B-main I started in sixth place, but due to guessing the wrong shock package for the right front of the car, the car was tight as I exited corners 2 and 4 making it almost impossible to pass Donnie Adams Jr. since he was having handling problems of his own and there was not enough room to pass him. Oh well we'll try again next week as Gas City will be our next destination this week April 23, and Lincoln Park Speedway on April 24.
